2.44 Currency Strength Chart

Problems you may encounter operating the FX4Caster

If your MT4 data feed (DDE) is turned on and the platform is sending prices to its own chart just fine, then the MT4 will send the data through the DDE to the FX4Caster. The screen comes up blank at first so give it some time to gather the data.

Should you be having a problem, take a look through the error messages below

error

This means the MT4 broker platform you are using is not working with the strength chart due to incorrect formatting or the DDE is not enabled.

straightlines

If you have a screen like the one above, it may be that the platform you are using is setup with their own special feed and you may have to use this one to get going. Demo mode using an alias country or name is ok. You can run two or more MT4 platforms at the same time. Just use one DDE feed. Make sure the one you are not using to feed the software has its DDE turned off since the data will conflict and mess things up or produce the error above. Try our suggested MT4 platforms if your own doesn't work. These MT4 platforms work and although you may use another MT4 provider, there may be issues with the way they format their data or they simply do not have enough currency pairs to make a proper calculation.

dde active

You can run one MT4 platform with the DDE enabled, while using a second or even third for trading. The MT4 only needs a demo account. You can use an alias and anonymous location to get a demo account to run the software.

error2

The error above says that the program files needed for operation are not in the correct spot. See message at top of page. You should have let the installer place them but what is important is that both the EXE and the DLL are in the same folder.

This problem is because the file named NDde.dll is not in the same folder as the FX4Caster244.exe file. They should both be in the same directory from your C drive like the picture below. The setup program creates a directory named FX4CASTER and places the dll and the exe files in it. Then a shortcut icon is placed on your desktop that should point to this place on your computer.

2files

Those two files circled must be together in the same directory. The other files, called diagnostics and Config are text files and are created by the software program the first time it starts. These can be read by Notepad when the program has been closed. Otherwise they are locked as long as the software is going.

DATA LOGGING

export

You can also enable a data logger which will place the strengths in a text file that can be exported to a spreadsheet. You must have the program stopped in order to read the file.

The data log file is a standard, text, comma-separated value file and can be imported any to any program that accepts CSV files. MS Excel is such a product. To import, do the following:
1) click "file" then click "open"
2) in the resulting dialog box, go to the "files of type" drop down list, click the down arrow at the right, find "Text Files ..." and click it.
3) Navigate the directory tree in the still open dialog box to find the file "4XPilot_CurrencyStrengths.txt" and click it
4) in the resulting "text import wizard" dialog, make sure the "delimited" radio button is selected, then click "next"
5) in the next dialog, make sure the "Comma" check box is check, then click "next" and click "finish" in the final dialog.
The resulting worksheet should be ready for ancillary calculations, graphing, etc. The link that follows is a tutorial. Just note that we are not using a *.csv extension; we are using *.txt. Makes no difference.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I use the default settings most of the time. Different people have various preferences. Measuring time instead of prices displays differently than the standard chart. No matter what setting you use for time samples, they will all show trend about the same. Sometimes I set 240 minutes over 10 seconds if it is very slow so I can see trend better on a longer term. Try different time settings.

PAIRS MEASUREMENT

The files for showing the polling results is located in the directory the they were placed in. Look in the directory to see the file named "_Diagnostic.txt"
